Hey Friends,

During the week, a dear friend asked me “How did you develop the ability to write and speak well in a victorian language”. Initially, my reaction was like – I did not think about it in an analytical way so far but the process did involve a lot of hard work for a considerable long period. Afterwards, I did ponder upon it and thought of sharing a few things about it.

Personally. I have always believed that “Consistency is Vital” ( Click on the link to read about it). However, If you want to achieve success in any given area of your life, you have to work consistently toward it. Remember that mistakes, setbacks and occasional embarrassments are going to be an integral part of our journey. In many ways, it’s an inescapable necessity and a great contributor to providing the much-needed octane fuel for successful outcomes.

This reminds me of a great saying that really resonated with me:-Personal confidence comes from making progress toward goals that are far bigger than your present capabilities. —Dan Sullivan

I would say goals come from three sources. These are essentially exposure, desire and confidence;

1. Exposure:- Goals come from what you know. it’s kind of a prerequisite in a way. For example, you can’t decide to go to Mars, if you don’t know Mars exists. Similarly, you can’t decide to develop certain aspects of your personality Or become rich if you don’t know it is possible to do so. Although I did study in a good school in those days speaking in a victorian language was a huge exercise in itself. I continued on a decent path of progression but always felt that there is a lot to improve upon. Subsequently, when I met people from various walks of life who were pretty good at the victorian language. It’s then, that I started believing more in myself thinking that they were not any different than I was especially on the spoken side of it. Knowing this, set the snowball rolling and kept the trigger on till the date.

2. Desire:- I would say that getting into good schools is not enough. You won’t pursue or engage in something if you do not want it. Here, you might ask why people do the jobs they dislike.I would say probably, it can be for money or to pay their bills. Perhaps, that’s their goal.

Our desires do not come from our innate personalities. Instead, our desires are trained, usually through our experiences, society, social media, and those around us.

Often, your current desires—such as binge-watching Netflix, or excessive involvement in undesirable distractions contradict your future self’s desire and are incompatible with better outcomes.

But the better part is that desires can be trained. You can prepare or train yourself to want something.

When you evolve as a person, you develop a sense of purpose that expands beyond your personal preferences and interests. This purpose pushes you outside of your preferences and transforms who you are.

Speaking through personal experiences, I would say “ you can train desire by actively and intentionally pursuing a goal or goals”.

My mantra is – “Passion follows engagement and skills”, And since you can learn to become passionate about anything, you might as well be intentional about what.

3. Confidence:– You won’t pursue goals if you don’t think you can achieve them. Your current goals reflect your current level of confidence. Your job and earnings level is based on your confidence. Your friends are based on your confidence. How you dress is based on your confidence and so on….

Confidence is the basis of imagination—which is required for seeing and choosing a future beyond your current capability and circumstances.

Confidence reflects your personal belief – what you can do, learn, and accomplish. The greater your confidence, the bigger your future self.

However, the challenge of confidence is that it can easily be broken. Confidence is fragile and erratic. Negative experiences can wreck your confidence and imagination. Now, this a separate topic to write on, hence it would be the topic of MY NEXT SUNDAY RETAZO, SO DO KEEP AN EYE ON IT.
